Digital literary audio walks in Strängnäs and Mariefred
Leader Södermanland has granted SEK 782,000 in LEADER support to Ekonomisk förening imariefred.nu to develop a project with literary audio walks in Strängnäs and Mariefred. The purpose of the project is to contribute to reading at all ages, public health through movement, and to help attract more visitors to Strängnäs municipality. The goal of the project is to produce and dramatize five books that take place in Strängnäs and Mariefred as separate digital audio walks, in an already existing app. Residents and visitors will be able to take part in dramatized scenes from the books while walking along specific routes, completely free of charge.
– We are pleased with the support we have received from Leader Södermanland. This project will not only promote reading and culture, but also strengthen Strängnäs municipality's profile as a cultural destination, contribute to public health and increased tourism in the area, says Thomas Öqvist, destination coordinator, Strängnäs municipality, who is leading the project.
The project group consists of the business associations Mitt Strängnäs and imariefred.nu, the relevant authors: Carina Eriksson, Cecilia Rojek, Alexandra Uhlmann Konjicija, Sofie Axelzon and Strängnäs municipality. The project's intended target groups are residents and visitors of all ages, students in both primary and secondary schools in the subjects of history, Swedish and sports, as well as new arrivals who want to learn more about Sweden's history and the Swedish language in a fun and easily accessible way.
– These book walks will fill a gap and provide great added value to our writing community and to the municipality. I have received many requests to have walks to the places in my historical novel, and now it is finally becoming a reality, says Sofie Axelzon, author of The City of Yellow Roses, which is one of the books in the project.
– This project is an excellent example of how we can use digital technology to make culture and history accessible in an engaging and inclusive way for all ages. We look forward to seeing how the literary audio walks will increase the cultural offering in Strängnäs, says Kristin Vettorato, operations manager, Leader Södermanland.
In addition to the aforementioned authors, works by the poet Bo Setterlind and the German author Kurt Tucholsky will also be included in the project.
