Engage young people

Method manual
The purpose of the method manual Grymt Praktiskt Styrinstrument (GPS) is to contribute tips, ideas and inspiration, which increase the opportunities to start and/or increase collaboration between young people and adults in the village they live in. The manual is aimed at village groups and other actors who are responsible for and/or are involved in rural development within civil society, business, the region and the municipality.
The handbook is based on experiences from the GPS project, which Leader Södermanland ran during 2019-2021 and focuses on the first steps in the process of achieving sustainable youth-adult collaboration in local development work in rural areas. Many Leader initiatives have shown that the participation of young people between the ages of 13-25 is an important success factor.
Social inclusion of young people
In MUCF's report Focus 18 – Who should join? The social inclusion of young people in Sweden, young people describe their living conditions based on the feeling of being part of a society. Several similarities emerge between those living in rural areas, sparsely populated areas and vulnerable areas and how they view their obstacles and opportunities to live the lives they want to live.
