GET STARTED

What change do you want to see happen?
Getting together and talking about your area's development potential is the starting point for your change work. It can also be the first step to implementing a leadership project. Are you already organized in an association, village team or village corporation? Invite interested parties to start thinking about what kind of change you want to bring about.
To qualify as a Leader project, it must fit within our strategy, goals and areas of focus. The project must arise from local needs, be built on local initiatives and ideas, contain innovative ideas and solutions, and be implemented in collaboration with others. The project must be implemented in and benefit target groups within the Leader Södermanland area of operation. Read more about our geographical area here.
Start the conversations
Start talking about what you want to do and who will do what. What you need to find money for and what you can contribute yourself. For example, you can start the conversation based on these questions:
1. What is the current situation?
– What are our challenges?
– What are our strengths?
– What resources do we have?
– What are we missing?
2. What do we want it to look like in 2030?
– What vision do we have?
– What are our goals for the project, after the project and in the longer term?
– What results and effects do we want the project to produce?
Where will the project be implemented?
For an application to be granted support by Leader Södermanland, the project must benefit our area of operation. Our area consists of the rural areas in the following municipalities, Eskilstuna, Flen, Gnesta, Katrineholm, Nykvarn, Strängnäs and Vingåker.
Who will implement the project?
Through Leader Södermanland, collaborating organizations in the non-profit, public and private sectors can apply for money for development projects that contribute to implementing Leader Södermanland's goals. It is important that you agree on who will be the applicant organization and who will be the cooperation partners.
Leader projects should have a broad benefit and involve improvements or development for more than the applicant organization. We do not grant support to private individuals or companies that want to develop their own business.
What scope should the project have?
At Leader Södermanland you can apply for funding for both small and larger projects. It is also possible to receive funding to carry out a feasibility study to investigate the conditions for a project.
The scope and focus of the project idea determines the size of the project and the Leader Södermanland board always carries out a reasonableness assessment for incoming project applications. This means that the board may find that a project is too expensive in relation to the project idea or that you have applied for too little money for the scope of the project idea.
