Ready in the Södermanland hinterland – preparedness in collaboration

About the project

Prepared in Södermanland's hinterland - preparedness in collaboration is an implementation project that follows the feasibility study 2024-1170 Prepared in Sörmland - preparedness. The objective of the preliminary study was to investigate possible preparedness interventions through Leader in the Leader Södermanland area. This was done in collaboration with local preparedness actors including the municipalities in the area.

The feasibility study has identified the following preparedness needs:

  • Higher preparedness capacity in the local community so that they can handle the initial phase when a crisis has occurred.
Long-term preparedness cooperation at the local level.

An opportunity identified in the feasibility study:

  • Civil society is an underutilized resource that can help increase the preparedness capacity of local communities.
  • Resources can be used more efficiently through increased collaboration.

The project consists of two parts

PART 1
This part of the project aims to create conditions for actors in the local community to collaborate and create a workshop.

The primary target group is local actors who are connected to places/districts, for example;

  • Non-profit and economic associations, for example; village councils, village associations, community centers, local history associations, Folkets hus,
    sports clubs and more.
  • Religious community.
  • Voluntary defense organizations.
  • Companies involved in local development.

Activities
Within the project, three inspiration meetings/workshops are held in each participating municipality, one meeting every six months, a total of 21 meetings. The focus here is on meeting the commitment where it is today and promoting collaboration. Within the project
A larger emergency meeting covering the entire area will also be held. An opportunity to exchange experiences between
The municipalities. It takes place before the final meeting in each municipality.

Through the umbrella project Emergency Preparedness Workshop, it is possible to meet ideas that require funding. However, the project is also expected to lead to an emergency preparedness workshop that is not funded through the umbrella project.

PART 2
This part of the project focuses on long-term preparedness collaboration. Forms of collaboration for preparedness work on
local level in the local community/district/location but also at the municipal level, to involve civil society in the long-term preparedness work.

The primary target group is actors who work with, or can work with, emergency preparedness issues throughout the municipality, to
example; emergency response personnel, voluntary defense organizations, police, business, associations, religious communities, etc.

The purpose of part two is to examine methods for continued involvement of civil society at the local level in preparedness work once the project is completed.
