SPARREHOLM'S SCHOOL GARDEN
About the project
The LEADER project aims to create a school garden to promote sustainable development and offer new educational opportunities for children with neuropsychiatric disabilities (NPF). The goal of the project is to implement a new garden area in the preschool's outdoor environment with vegetables and flowers, and to create spaces in the outdoor environment for recovery and learning.
The project owner is Sparreholm Utbildning AB and with this project they want to create a school garden and integrate cultivation into teaching with the help of Jeanette Lindahl who is a trained gardener. In this way they want to create a calm and creative environment, and promote learning about sustainable development outdoors. With a focus on including children with NPF.
Local ownership has been ensured through collaboration with children, staff and guardians. The cultivation will, among other things, use organic methods and materials to minimize negative environmental impact. This initiative is also expected to promote social sustainability by creating an inclusive environment where all children can participate and learn.
Activities and implementation
The project will involve various activities including:
• Insect inventory and self-assessment of the children's experience.
• Drawing and planning of the cultivation and construction of cultivation areas both inside and outside the fence.
• Construction of compost and workbench for practical cultivation work.
• Collaboration with Autism Södermanland to ensure that the garden becomes accessible and attractive for children with NPF.
